DESCRIPTION

Created by artist Rae Threat for their 2018 Level Ground residency, The Untitled Body Project explores how society has shaped our relationship to our bodies, utilizing groundbreaking 3D photography techniques to capture portraits of sex workers, adult film actors, and body positivity activists.

Artist Rae Threat’s Level Ground residency culminated on October 19, 2018 with the premiere gallery exhibition of The Untitled Body Project, held at Unit C, an art gallery in East LA. The exhibition was a fully immersive multimedia art show, displaying Rae’s 3D portraits at larger-than-life scale via LED panels, a centralized video installation on multiple monitors, and large-scale printed portrait suspensions. The show also featured a live music performance, a panel conversation with several of the Untitled models, and a short documentary composed of interviews with individuals of different shapes, sizes, genders, and identities discussing issues of body positivity and acceptance.

Since 2018, Rae has continued working with Level Ground to adapt The Untitled Body Project into a forthcoming short film, with an expected release date in late 2020.
